Calling All “Backyard Inventors”!

Accelerate Okanagan is working with Gorilla Media Inc who, at the end of January 2012, begin production on the 14-episode W Network series “Backyard Inventors”. You are invited to apply here to appear on the show and stand the chance to win research and development assistance and the opportunity to fast-track your invention to the mass market.

Doug Hall of Eureka! Ranch

The host, Doug Hall, is an internationally-acclaimed inventions guru and founder of the innovation incubator Eureka! Ranch. He is now hitting the road with a new TV series, searching for Canada’s best new inventors.

The series is designed to showcase the undiscovered talent, energy and raw passion of Canadian inventors who have yet to unleash their unique ideas on the world. In each episode, Doug meets with a handful of inventors in their backyards, garages and basements before choosing one inventor to take through his Eureka! Ranch process.

In the Eureka! Ranch office in Toronto, selected applicants refine, market test and position their creation before being introduced to an industry leader open to buying or investing in it. On the show, participants are the sole recipients of the remuneration offered for their inventions. The first two inventors filmed for the series received engineering and marketing guidance from Eureka! Ranch that led to cash offers from CEOs at the end of each episode.

Gorilla Media is now seeking Okanagan candidates with inventions that meet the following criteria:

1) Your invention has a working prototype.

2) It is unique, visually interesting, and can be tested.

3) It does not have a history of significant sales.
