Accelerate Okanagan has announced the opening of The Pod, a coworking space located at 1334 St. Paul Street in downtown Kelowna. The Pod will offer a full service coworking environment for innovative startup and early stage companies and technology entrepreneurs.
Jeff Keen, CEO of Accelerate Okanagan said, “The Okanagan entrepreneurial community is growing at a rapid pace. One of the biggest challenges we are facing is access to scalable, flexible office space for startup and early stage companies as they grow their businesses. The Pod has been created specifically to address this challenge.
The benefits of coworking have been well documented. According to Deskmag’s annual Global Coworking Survey, 71 percent of participants reported a boost in creativity since joining a coworking space, while 62 percent said their standard of work had improved.
The Pod, consisting of seventeen work spaces, will be available to companies on a monthly rental basis, including a fully secured facility, 24×7 access, wireless internet, a kitchen area, TV, printers and casual meeting space.
The Official Grand Opening of The Pod will take place during Startup Week Okanagan, a 10 day long series of events and activities showcasing a unique convergence of music, education, art, entertainment, business and technology.
Keen said, “The Pod is all about creating an affordable environment that fuels creativity and the entrepreneurial spirit to help grow the best innovative companies right here in the Okanagan. We thought it only appropriate to launch this new space with the entire Okanagan innovative and entrepreneurial community during Startup Week Okanagan.”
