BCIC Mentor Program

Accelerate Okanagan, in partnership with BCIC is offering Okanagan entrepreneurs access to the province-wide BCIC Mentor Program.

The Program is modeled after the very successful MIT Venture Mentoring Service and builds on the program offered as a partnership between OSTEC and ORIC last year.

The Program will match early stage technology CEOs and founders, identified by Accelerate Okanagan, with mentors of strong professional reputation, qualification and experience in the tech industry.

Mentors will work in teams to provide guidance, advice and support to help emerging entrepreneurs grow their company.

The goal is to have the BCIC Mentor Program ready for entrepreneur-intake in the Okanagan this spring.

Apply to be a Mentor

The BCIC Mentor Program provides an environment that enables mentors to have fun and enjoy the satisfaction of bestowing their experience to appreciative entrepreneurs and make a real difference to ventures at critical points in their development.

The Program matches individuals with strong professional experience in the technology industry who wish to give back to the BC technology community and seek professional stimulation without the obligation of “a job” with founders and CEOs of early stage technology companies in BC who need advice, guidance and support to grow their companies.

Mentor characteristics:

  • Solid expertise relevant to early stage companies
  • Seen as a role model by peers
  • Good listener & ability to advise
  • No personal agenda
  • Time to participate

Accelerate Okanagan will coordinate mentor recruitment, arrange familiarization workshops and match mentors to entrepreneurs.

We encourage interested individuals to apply for consideration as a volunteer mentor.

Join The Program

The BCIC Mentor Program is focused on ventures that can benefit the most from access to such mentors.

The most important characteristic is that the venture team must consist of committed and motivated entrepreneurs who have a realistic view of building their business.

To access program mentors, entrepreneurs must be engaged in programs offered by participating organizations and be put forward by these organizations as good candidates for the mentor program.

Mentors choose to work with ventures based on their interests, relevant experience and available time.

Accelerate Okanagan is a partner of the BCIC Program in the Okanagan and our program participants are eligible for mentor team.
