This fall, We are joining forces with Valley First and MNP to launch a Route 97 Edition of Startup Basics. On November 5th our team will hit the road and visit four Okanagan cities in four days. The purpose of the Route 97 Edition of Startup Basics is to engage in a meaningful way with entrepreneurs and community organizations and to support the growing entrepreneurial ecosystem across the Okanagan.
In each of the four cities (Penticton, Kelowna, Vernon, and Salmon Arm), there will be two back-to-back workshop-style sessions presented by Accelerate Okanagan mentors, a panel discussion featuring local entrepreneurs and innovators, and a networking event designed to build community and inspire connection.
WHO
You don’t have to be a tech entrepreneur to participate in this program. You don’t even have to be an entrepreneur at all. If you’re willing, you are welcome. Check out the details below and get yourself registered. Your entrepreneurial journey starts now.

WHAT
Startup Basics is classroom style program developed for early-stage entrepreneurs and career-changers. The Startup Basics program supplies participants with the tools and resources they need to accelerate their companies from idea to startup.
The Route 97 Edition of Startup Basics has an innovative new format designed to provide you with a solid foundation of entrepreneurial education, some time to connect with fellow entrepreneurs in your community, and a chance to learn from community members who are already up to great things.
Laws of Attraction (3:00- 4:15)
This session is all about finding your customer. Entrepreneurs will walk through the Customer Discovery process and learn how to ask the right questions and formulate hypotheses to validate their product and market.
Business Building (4:15 – 5:30)
*This session will be held in Kelowna, Vernon and Salmon Arm*
This session will have entrepreneurs planning the next step for their business ideas by using the nine elements of a business model canvas. This canvas is designed to get you thinking about your business holistically.
Pitching Power (4:15 – 5:30)
*This session will only be held in Penticton, in replace of Business Building*
Whether it is to potential employees, current employees, customers, or investors the pitch is a pivotal part of any business. This session helps you understand the importance of your pitch both within and outside the investor context.
Lessons Learned (5:30 – 7:00)
Local entrepreneurs and community members will share their journey, insights, challenges, and successes and inspire you to take the leap!
Beer & Bytes (7:00 -7:30)
This is your chance to build meaningful connections with the entrepreneurial community and network with the panellists and speakers. There will be beer, wine, snacks, and activities. Who doesn’t love a good social?!
