The Role

The North Okanagan Innovation Centre will be launching this year in the City of Vernon and AO is working alongside several community partners to move this project forward. To support the launch, growth and development of this space and programs, we are seeking a Community Lead to work in Vernon. This person will be essential in developing and maintaining strong and positive relationships with members, clients, tenants, sponsors and the greater OKGNtech community. The successful individual will have a passion for entrepreneurship, a desire to help, a startup mindset, a flexible schedule for work/events in the evenings, and have the attention to detail superpower. 

Key Functions:

Facilities Coordination 

  • Help launch the North Okanagan Innovation Centre and develop the community culture and feel of the space
  • Coordinate and manage facilities day-to-day (i.e. ordering materials, bookings and set up of meetings spaces, event logistics, maintaining the cleanliness of shared spaces and more). 
  • Onboard and facilitate tours for members and OKGNtech community
  • Coordinate office technologies, updates to the website, social calendars, event listings and more 

Community Building 

  • Ensure clients, tenants and members have positive experiences with facilities, events, programs and processes
  • Online and in person communications with tenants, community supporters and members
  • Provide resources and referrals for the greater ecosystem 
  • Host and facilitate a range of events and learning initiatives for community, and use feedback from stakeholders to improve facilities, events, and processes 
  • Relationship build with OKGNtech community through community event attendance and business development
  • Develop and deepen relationships with OKGNtech Supporters and members
  • Prospect new members and potential facility renters
  • Leverage AO team and mentors to support local entrepreneurs through existing programming and events

Administration & Sustainability

  • Source and support with grants and funding opportunities that contribute to long term sustainability of the Innovation Centre
  • Track metrics associated with the space and programming and support with government reporting
  • Collaborate alongside AO team and community supporters to develop strategic revenue streams
  • Manage vendor, member and tenant contracts and relationships
