As a member of the WATTS/tekmar R&D Team -  the candidate will be responsible for contributing to leading in the design, development and implementation of our enterprise global electronics core platform. Our R&D Team is responsible and focused on the agile development of the global electronics platform while collaborating with our data, connectivity, application and product teams.

JOB DESCRIPTION - SOFTWARE DEVELOPER/ENGINEER II



PURPOSE:

The individual is an intermediate software developer who works on somewhat pre-defined software development projects and can identify issues and make software development related recommendations.



PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Works on assigned projects within largely pre-determined specifications where not all components have prior art.
Tests and debugs embedded and other software programs using but not limited to:
  • Unit testing
  • Manual black box testing
  • Manual white box testing
  • Automated testing methods and scripts
  • System simulation tools
  • Physical test sites
Designs and codes software and operational algorithms using but not limited to:
  • Multiple programming languages with emphasis on C
  • IDE’s focused on embedded development 
  • Integration of third party and open source software

Documents and maintains programming and engineering details including project software specifications and project plans.

Ensures established engineering standards are embedded into assigned products.

Provides advice to junior engineers and consults with other engineers.

Compiles and analyzes data; prepares information reports.

EDUCATION

Engineering or Computer Science Bachelor's Degree (Mechanical or Electrical) and 3 years of experience in commercial software development.


MANAGEMENT:

No direct reports.  



EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • At least two years of relevant experience including embedded software programming

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Works in an office environment 
  • Ability to move throughout the manufacturing and office areas. 
  • Alternates between sitting, standing, and moving within the work area.
  • Must be able to manipulate equipment used in performance of tasks.
  • Other demands include but not limited to oral, written, and presentation/communications skills.
