AO Student Scholarship

Have an idea or prototype that you would like to grow into a business? Apply for our scholarship for a chance to be on the Venture Acceleration Program.

Academic Projects

AO connects students to startups for coursework and projects such as Capstones. In addition, students are able to receive a discount on our fall programs focused on the foundational building-blocks of starting a business.

KPMG Venture Acceleration Program Scholarship

The individual that is chosen for the KPMG VAP Scholarship will receive 6 months of paid tuition to the Venture Acceleration Program. This program involves developing your product and taking it to market with the guidance of AO's knowledgeable Executives in Residence (EiRs).

Academic Programs

Capstone, Research, & Class Projects AO will assist in building connections between startups and students for Capstone, and other class projects, where students are required to connect with real businesses.
Startup Basics Program AO's Startup Basics Program focuses on the foundational building-blocks of starting a business.   • PCNA -Youth Initiative

    The Youth Internships (YI) program is a national initiative coordinated by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) and funded through the Government of Canada’s Youth Employment Strategy (YES).

    BCIC Tech Works offers two programs, BC Tech Co-op Grants and the Innovator Skills Initiative, to help fund the placement of students in BC technology companies.

  • NSERC - Engage Grants

    An Engage Grant (EG) is intended to give a company access to the knowledge and expertise available at Canadian universities. The grant supports direct costs of research such as the salaries of students, postdocs, and research assistants, equipment, materials, services and project related travel.

    Put your talent to work with an organization that needs it. Apply any time for a research internship of four months or longer. Funding starts at $15,000.

  • Get Youth Working

    The Program offers employers a $2,800 hiring incentive (up to 3 employees at $2,800 each) to hire eligible youth 15 to 29 years of age.

  • The Innovation Library

    A collaboration between the UBC Okanagan Library and the Okanagan Regional Library (ORL), the Innovation Library supports all students, faculty, and staff from UBC’s Okanagan campus, as well as community researchers in the Okanagan. The Innovation Library provides access to many of UBC Library’s electronic resources (eBooks, articles, etc.) and is located downtown Kelowna.
